I felt my first big draw for full time ministry 4 years in my relationship with the Lord. It was so amazing, the inspiring experience I had for God.
I was at church camp when I was in 10th grade; I had a youth pastor from another church that I had looked up to for a long time. I wanted to spend time with him, but it did not work out very often. One time I finally got to be in a bible study group with Jeff. I was so excited.
It was a windy summer day and the dust was going everywhere, We walked out to a house near the camp and had bible study. The text we were covering was John 13.
John 13 is the passage we studied. It is one of the most powerful texts in the bible; it is the text where Jesus washes the disciples feet. He said that this is one of the most powerful text for it showed the love of God towards his disciples. I and Jeff say it is the 2nd most loving scene we see for a group of people besides the cross which is of course surpasses all things of love that could be expressed.
Jeff then brought out a metal pitcher and a metal washbowl; he filled it full of water.
He turned on the Song I Can Only Imagine By Mercy Me. He said just listen to the words and imagine yourself in Heaven.
He took a rag and the metal washbowl; filled it full of water and washed our feet.
Our feet were dirty. The dust had gotten into shoes and saturated our socks. I had old-fashioned sandals on and other had flip-flops. He went and washed out feet; and told us he loved us.
It touched my heart- I had never seen someone love me like that before. I just knew this was the kind of love that I wanted to express the rest of my life.
I told myself; I want to teach others God's word and lead people to Jesus the rest of my life!
